Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach focused on understanding and improving behavior. It is widely recognized as the most effective treatment for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but its principles can benefit individuals with various developmental and behavioral challenges.
ABA therapy uses systematic interventions based on principles of learning theory to increase helpful behaviors (like communication, social skills, self-care, and academics) and decrease behaviors that are harmful or interfere with learning (like aggression, self-injury, or repetitive behaviors).
Who Can Benefit?
While ABA is most commonly associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder, it can be beneficial for individuals facing challenges related to:
- Developmental Delays
- Communication Difficulties
- Social Skill Deficits
- Challenging Behaviors
- Difficulties with Daily Living Skills (e.g., toileting, dressing)
- Learning Difficulties
